Outdoor seating to be discussed at Thursday’s Muscatine City Council meeting

The Muscatine City Council will be discussing a possible moratorium on City Code Title 3, Chapter 1, Section 6 to streamline the process for permitting outdoor restaurant seating as part of the response to the COVID-19 public health crisis.

At the City Council virtual meeting on May 7th, the question was raised as to whether or not restaurants would be able to open up outdoor seating to accommodate the expected overflow of customers once businesses were allowed to reopen. Mayor Diana Broderson expressed concern over the social distancing aspect but stated that it would be discussed. That discussion will take place Thursday, May 21st at 7pm during the Muscatine City Council Meeting. The public is invited to attend the virtual meeting and they will have the opportunity to offer their views about the possible moratorium.
