The Musser Public Library and HNI Community Center will enter Phase 2 of their five-phase reopening plan on Monday when the facility will reopen to the public. The facility has been closed to the public since March 17 due to the COVID-19 health crisis.
“In order to protect our patrons and staff, and continue to provide services to the community, the Library is implementing a phased reopening plan,” Pam Collins, Library Director, said. “The plan is subject to change as the situation evolves.”
Starting at 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, the public will be allowed back into Musser Library with access through the north (handicap) entrance on East 2nd Street. The East entrance (parking lot entrance) will remain closed to the public.
A staff member will be located at the entrance and keep a tally of patrons as the building capacity will be limited to 50. The staff member will hand out a pass with the patrons name and arrival time listed. Patrons are limited to one hour in the building and must return the pass to the library staff at the entrance/exit when leaving.
Patrons are encouraged to wear masks while in the building with masks provided as supplies allow. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian at all times.
Seating will be limited to computer use only with desktop and tablet computers available on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations can be made at the service desk. No meeting room reservations will be permitted at this time.
Staff will perform routine cleaning of all public surfaces throughout the day. Building hours will be limited to 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, and 1-3 p.m. Sunday.
Interlibrary loans that were not available in Phase 1 will be available in Phase 2.
A feature in the current Phase 1 of the reopening plan was a Contactless Curbside Pickup Service that has been very successful since its implementation on May 4, 2020. The service will be by appointment only.
Patrons can call the library at 563-263-3065 (Ext. #1) to schedule an appointment for curbside pickup up to 24 hours in advance. Patrons will be asked the make and model of vehicle they will be in when picking up materials. All requested materials will need to be picked up at the North Entrance (2nd Street side) of the library.
Children’s and adult programming will continue to be recorded and shown live on Facebook and aired on Channel 5.
