Rock Island County to impose curfew tonight

Rock Island County will announce a county wide curfew beginning tonight. County Administrator Jim Snider said he is in discussions with Rock Island County Sheriff Gerry Bustos and local mayors in announcing the curfew later today.

Local law enforcement agencies from all over the county agree they are on the same page when it comes to keeping the counties residents safe. Snider was quoted as saying ” We are coordinating a review of what Scott County has enacted and we are in discussions with county municipalities. It’s just a matter of pulling it together.

The curfew will come after a night of riots in Davenport Sunday, in which two people were killed and another two were injured, including a Davenport police officer. Rock Island is following the lead of Scott County which announced a curfew daily from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. that goes into effect tonight.
