Melanie Alexander of the Muscatine Art Center joined Amy K this morning on the Moving Forward to talk about the reopening of the center June 9th as well as the large featured exhibition, “Till Death: Wedding and Mourning Traditions” that will offer more than just gowns. The preservation of the textiles and the meaning of the clothing will be discussed as well. Clothing and artifacts that will be featured include The Stevens Collection, that weaves together the stories of five couples which includes Lorraine Willis’ dress that worn when she wed John Clay Stevens.

This exhibition and so much more will be starting on June 9th. The Muscatine Art Center asks that you use the Mulberry entrance and that you wear a mask to protect yourself and others as well as the exhibition. Listen here as Melanie talks about it all.
