2020 Iowa State Fair is cancelled
The 2020 Iowa State Fair has been cancelled.
The State Fair Board voted 11 to 2 on Wednesday to cancel this summer’s event. Fair CEO Gary Slater said social distancing would have posed a challenge to fair organizers and that the Iowa Department of Public Health recommended postponing the fair.
It will be the first time since World War II the fair has not been held.
Several states around the Midwest, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana, have already canceled their state fairs.
