A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the family of a Wilton teen who died in a stabbing in Cedar County early Sunday morning.

The sheriff’s office received a 911 call about a stabbing at a home in a rural section of the county about 3 a.m. Authorities say Chantz Stevens, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. The stabbing apparently stemmed from some sort to altercation at the home, the sheriff’s office said.

Milton Jermaine Cole Serrano Jr., 21, of Muscatine has been charged with first-degree murder, harassment, and criminal mischief in relation to this case, authorities said.

“Chantz was a great young man taken from us too soon,” Shane Boorn wrote in the GoFundMe for the victim’s family. “He had so much potential, and was unfortunately killed in a tragic stabbing. His family is grieving the loss of a beloved son, and brother, along with an entire community. We are asking anyone who is able to assist the family with the funeral costs during this difficult time. God bless you all.”
