Lane restrictions for the eastbound lane of Mississippi Drive can be expected this week, including Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 10-11), as the contractor for Muscatine Power & Water (MPW) pulls the 69kV (kilovolt) cable through the underground duct bank from Pine Street up to Mississippi Drive and then down 2nd Street.
One lane of traffic will be maintained with flaggers directing traffic as the lane restriction progresses upriver from Pine Street.
There may be some minor work October 12-16 that would affect the Pine Street intersection as the contractor finishes constructing the concrete duct bank in that area.
The work is the final part of the Mississippi Drive Corridor Project that will eventually see the power poles removed along the Mississippi Drive corridor upriver from Pine Street.
Drivers are urged to use caution when travelling along the corridor and to use alternate routes if possible. All work is weather dependent.
