Senate Republicans late last week elected Sen. Mark Lofgren, of Muscatine, as an assistant majority leader on Friday.
As assistant majority leader, He will help develop and implement the agenda for the upcoming legislative session. Lofgren will facilitate internal communication between Senate Republicans to help ensure we are all on the same page and are working to implement our shared agenda.
“It’s an honor to be chosen by my Senate colleagues for this leadership position,” Senator Lofgren said. “I look forward to helping to lead our work together in the Iowa Senate to bring about great opportunities for the people of Iowa for many years to come.”
Lofgren, a realtor, was elected to Senate District 46 in 2016 after serving two terms in the Iowa House. He won re-election in last week’s general election, defeating Democrat Chris Brase for the senate seat, which represents Muscatine County and part of Scott County.
