Attention job seekers: The City of Muscatine is now hiring

The City of Muscatine has several full and part time employment opportunities available including many opportunities in public safety and various other City departments.

The Transfer Station, Muscatine Fire Department, Muscatine Police Department, Parks and Recreation, and the Water Pollution Control Plant (Water and Resource Recovery Facility) have part-time and full-time positions available.

The Muscatine Department is seeking applications for a Police Officer. This is responsible police work as part of the Public Safety Operations of the City.  Work involves responsibility for community protection of life and property, crime prevention, law enforcement and arrest, assigned patrol, traffic control and supervision, investigation, records and report processing, public relations contacts and other special police related assignments.

The Department of Public Works is seeking applications for a Senior Engineer/Project Manager. The Senior Engineer/Project Manager assists with city/civil engineering studies, project design, review, and inspections relating to City infrastructure related projects. The position has responsibility to oversee and perform design for Capital Improvements as assigned. Other responsibilities include reviewing easement documents, design and construction projects in accordance with state laws and engineering standards.

The Water Pollution Control Plant (Water and Resource Recovery Facility) is seeking applications for a full and part time Lab Technician. The Lab Tech I works under general supervision and is responsible for analytical work related to the analysis of water, wastewater, storm water and environmental samples for the City of Muscatine Water Pollution Control Plant. The essential functions include the analysis of basic to moderate difficulty with inorganic and microbiological analytical procedures.  The position works in a team covering weekends and holidays.

The Transfer Station is seeking a part-time, seasonal Compost Site Technician. This is a customer service, clerical position monitoring activity at the compost site. Work involves responsibility for greeting and directing customers, taking payments, and monitoring proper disposal of compost site materials.

The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course is looking to fill a variety of positions this summer including groundskeepers, equipment operators, golf course outside services, and clubhouse supervisor. These are among the positions available within the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department are looking for a few dependable and hardworking individuals to fill seasonal positions. This is a great opportunity for the college student to earn some extra money during the summer break, or for individuals looking for additional opportunities this summer.

Musser Public Library is looking for a part-time Library Assistant who will provide patron reference and technology assistance, and assist the Reference and Circulation staff as needed. A college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

The Muscatine Fire Department is taking applications for a part time Ambulance Attendant. The Ambulance Attendant responds to medical emergencies, non-emergency calls, and stands by at fire scenes and at community events to respond to medical emergencies. This is part-time on an on call basis, and will be called to work as needed by the department but must be available at least 24 hours per month on average.
