Mayson Andrew Davis

A Muscatine man was on probation for stealing a car in 2019 and awaiting trial on robbery charges from March has been arrested for allegedly killing an 18-year-old from Moline over the weekend in Rock Island.

Kielan J. Sims, 18, was found Saturday afternoon with gun shot wounds in the 1600 block of 7th Street in Rock Island. He was taken to Trinity Rock Island where he later died.

On Sunday, Mayson Andrew Davis, 26, was arrested on a charge of first degree murder and booked into the Muscatine County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond, pending extradition to Illinois.

Authorities have not released a motive in the shooting.

Davis was on probation related to a 2019 guilty plea for stealing a vehicle. He was arrested in March on robbery and theft charges related to an alleged home invasion robbery along with another man, and was released after posting bond in April.

Rock Island Police said the shooting is still under investigation.
