Two firefighters to be sworn in Thursday by Muscatine City Council

Muscatine City Hall

The Muscatine Fire Department will increase by two members Thursday when the Muscatine City Council meets Thursday (July 1) in the Council chambers at Muscatine City Hall.

Citizens are allowed to attend the meetings and those interested will be able to sit together as long as they leave a seat open between groups. Citizens who are fully vaccinated will not have to wear a mask but those who have not been vaccinated are encouraged to wear a mask.

Muscatine Mayor Diana Broderson will swear in two firefighters, Colton Pauls and Daniel Nuci, as they become official members of the Muscatine Fire Department family.

Also on the agenda is the second reading of an ordinance updating the regulations concerning nuisance vehicles contained in Chapter 3, Title 9 of the Muscatine City Code. This is part of a continuing effort to improve City Code with the intent of making the Code easier to understand and enforce. The intent of this update is not to radically change how nuisance vehicles are regulated, but rather to improve on the current approach.

The Council will also be asked to approve several purchase orders as the City begins the 2021-2022 fiscal year including one for the purchase of Road Salt in preparation for the upcoming winter.

While public access to the Council Chambers is permitted, those wanting to watch or participate in the meeting but not attend in person can do so through the virtual GoToMeeting portal. Information on joining the session and how to make a comment during the meeting is listed below. The session will also be broadcast live on the City of Muscatine YouTube channel and on Muscatine Power & Water Cable Channel 2.

Information on the presentations and other agenda items can be found by clicking AGENDA to download the July 1, 2021, City Council agenda and/or attachments.
