Another hot and humid day Thursday, severe weather also possible

The hot and humid weather is expected to stick around into the weekend, and the possibility of severe weather is also in the forecast.

Severe thunderstorms are possible from late Thursday afternoon through Thursday night across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois, according to the Quad Cities National Weather Service office.

The main threats from any storms that reach severe levels are damaging wind, heavy rainfall and large hail.

National Weather Service forecast for Muscatine, as of Wednesday 8 p.m.:

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph.
A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Light east wind becoming northeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
