Muskies fall in Dubuque, play final two weeks at home on 95.1 FM/860 AM KWPC

The Muskies will not walk away with any wins in their road campaign for the 2021 season.  Last week, Muscatine fell to Dubuque Senior 48-6 to move to 0-7 on the season. A slew of big name injuries lead to a tough outing from the start. Quarterback Landon Battey went down the first drive of the game with an undisclosed injury. Quarterback responsibilities would then be split between senior tight end Nolan Recker and sophomore backup Sawyer Zeck.

The injury nightmare continued as later on in the contest, starting running back Ty Cozad went down with an ankle injury, meaning senior Mason Crabtree would have the bulk of carries to finish the game. There has been no word yet on if either players will be starting this week against Davenport North.

With no wins late in the season, it seems as if the team will look to give some experience to other players so they can adjust to the speed of the game for what is sure to be a more prepared team in 2022. Having so many young players facing more stacked and experienced teams, it can lead to some hardships, however the experience gained throughout this season for the younger players will most likely translate to next season.

There are two more games left for the Muskies, Davenport North and Davenport West. Both teams will make the trip down to close out the season. Catch the Muskies vs. Wildcats this Friday, October 15th on FM 95.1/AM 860 KWPC
