With thoughts of sugar plums dancing in their heads, the elves in the Muscatine Parks and Recreation office have been busy checking the adoption list for the Weed Park Festival of Lights. The elves discovered, however, that there remained a few display areas left for local community organizations and businesses to adopt.

The Festival of Lights is quickly approaching but interested organizations and businesses still have time to help spread good cheer and bring some Christmas magic for all to enjoy this holiday season by adopting one of the remaining display areas.

Muscatine’s historic Weed Park will shine brightly from December 3 through December 26 with beautiful displays provided by those who have adopted areas within the park. Viewers will be able to drive through the spectacle from 5:30-7:30 p.m. daily beginning at the Washington Street entrance and proceeding to the Colorado Street exit. Non-perishable goodwill food donations may be deposited in the container at the Washington Street entrance to benefit local food pantries.

The volunteers may design their own light display near the available Weed Park shelters, gardens and structures for the enjoyment of all this December. Interested organizations or businesses may submit their application by contacting the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department at (563) 263-0241 or by emailing parksoffice@muscatineiowa.gov.
