Firefighter to be sworn in; trick-or-treat hours to be established at Thursday’s City Council meeting

A new member of the Muscatine Fire Department will be sworn into service and the establishment of Trick-or-Treat hours are among the items for the Muscatine City Council on Thursday (Sept. 15).

The City Council meets for their regular session Thursday in the Council Chambers at Muscatine City Hall, 215 Sycamore Street, Muscatine, Iowa. A virtual session will be held in conjunction with the in-person meeting for those who want to view the proceedings or make a comment but do not feel comfortable attending in person. Instructions for joining the virtual session are listed below.

The City Council will also hear the third and final reading of an Ordinance revising the City of Muscatine City Code on Snow Emergency Policy and the second reading of an Ordinance revising City Code on all-terrain vehicles.

The City Council will also hear, discuss, and vote on changes to the Rules of Council, including the change in the start time of Council meetings from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m. Additional sections were added for meeting conduct, allowing Council members to attend meetings remotely with approval of the mayor, and to bring the Rules in line with current Iowa Code.

Information on the presentations and other agenda items can be found by clicking AGENDA to download a PDF version of the City Council agenda and/or attachments.

Thursday’s City Council meeting is open to the public. Citizens who do not want to attend the in-person meeting can watch and/or participate through the GoToMeeting virtual meeting portal. Information on joining the session and how to make a comment during the meeting is listed below. The session will also be broadcast live on the City of Muscatine YouTube channel and on Muscatine Power & Water Cable Channel 2.
