Joens named next Muskie Girls Basketball Head Coach – Voice Of Muscatine

Muscatine High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Courtney Joens as the next Muskie Girls Basketball Head Coach. Courtney recently served as head coach at West Liberty High School. 

“I’m super excited to have the opportunity to lead this group of girls and be a part of this community, ” says Courtney Joens. “I’m looking forward to working with the girls and helping to develop This team and the youth program to get to a high level where we compete for conference championships and state tournament berths!”

Courtney Joens graduated from Iowa City High in 2016. She then went to The University of Illinois and played basketball all four years while earning her bachelor’s degree in Sports management. Courtney works as a youth basketball director of her own program Joens Basketball Academy where she coaches 3rd-8th grade girls and boys teams in Iowa City. 

“We are excited to have Coach Joens join the Muskie team,” says Mike Henson, Activities Director at MHS. “Her passion and knowledge of the game will be a great asset for Muskie Girls Basketball.”
