Take a walk through Muscatine’s storied past on September 24 – Voice Of Muscatine

The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled the annual “Walk (or Ride) Through History” for 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Greenwood Cemetery, 1814 Lucas Street, Muscatine. This event is fun for all ages and free of cost to attend.

Include this annual tradition in your fall festivities and learn a bit of Muscatine’s history. Tour guides will relay enticing stories about some of Greenwood Cemetery’s most interesting and influential residents. All tales will be historically accurate and will be sure to entertain you. 

The “Walk (or Ride) Through History” will take place rain or shine, and will last for approximately one hour. MuscaBus will provide transportation to and from the event, and there will be a stop at the Greenwood Cemetery entrance and exit. MuscaBus will also provide rides through the cemetery.

To register for a MuscaBus ride, please contact the MuscaBus office at least one day in advance by calling (563) 263-8152. Pre-registration is not required for walking tours.

Volunteer tour guides are needed. Please contact the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department at (563) 263-0241 to volunteer, or for more information.

Lucas Street remains a construction zone from Logan to Newell with limited access to Greenwood Cemetery from the north depending on construction activity. Drivers are advised that the main entrance to Greenwood Cemetery is accessible from West 8th Street and from Logan.
