2023 Holiday message from the Mayor of Muscatine, Brad Bark – Voice Of Muscatine

(Office of the Mayor/Submitted)

Dear Friends,

As the year comes to a close and the festive season is upon us, I wanted to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you. Christmas and New Years are a time of joy, reflection, and gratitude. It is a time to celebrate with loved ones, cherish the moments we have shared throughout the year, and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.

First of all, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teachers. Their unwavering commitment to education and the well-being of our children has been truly remarkable. To our frontline workers, words cannot express the debt of gratitude we owe you. You have been our heroes in risking your own well-being to ensure the health and safety of our community. From doctors and nurses to paramedics, police officers, firefighters, and all essential workers, your selflessness and commitment have been an inspiration to us all. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Last but not least, I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to all those who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, keeping us safe and ensuring the smooth functioning of our community. Thank you to our councilmembers, administration, human resources, communications, finance & records, parking, information technology, community development, housing, art center, emergency management, fire & EMS, police department, library, parks & recreation, public works, public transit, solid waste division, water & resource recovery facility and stormwater departments, to local business owners; your dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed.

As we welcome the joyous holiday season and look forward to a new year filled with hope and promise, let us remember the true spirit of the season – kindness, generosity, and unity. It is through these virtues that we will continue to uplift one another and build a stronger, more resilient community.

From my family to yours, I wish you a Merry Christmas, a joyous holiday season, and a Happy New Year!

Shine your light and Be Your Best!

Dr. Brad Bark
