The results of the Muscatine County Housing Market Analysis will be presented at a joint meeting of the Muscatine City Council, Muscatine County Board of Supervisors, and the Muscatine Community School District Board of Education at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the Merrill Hotel. The public is invited and welcomed to attend the presentation.
The City of Muscatine partnered with Muscatine County to engage Atlas Community Studios (Atlas), an Iowa-based firm specializing in strategic planning and economic development, to develop a countywide housing market analysis based on current market and demographic conditions. The report discusses housing market conditions county-wide but also includes stand-alone reports for each city – Muscatine, West Liberty, and Wilton.
The housing market analysis was formed by existing plans and studies, community input, and local, regional, and national data., and will provide the County and Municipalities a better understanding of the housing challenges as well as the opportunities for development and rehabilitation.
The project was completed in four phases beginning with Community Engagement and data collection and research, followed by market analysis, and the development of strategic recommendations. The planning process began in August 2023 and the project will conclude at the end of February.
The final deliverable will not only include a housing market analysis for Muscatine County, but will also offer standalone housing market analyses for the cities of Muscatine, West Liberty and Wilton, respectively, and strategic recommendations for consideration at the regional and municipal levels.
