High speed pursuit ends in arrest of Davenport man Sunday – Voice Of Muscatine

A Davenport man has been taken into custody following a high-speed chase that began in Muscatine County and ended within the city limits of Muscatine.

A Muscatine County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle on Taylor Avenue near the intersection with 155th Street in Muscatine County at 7:01 p.m. on Sunday July 7, 2024, for a traffic violation.  The motorcycle failed to stop and continued southbound on Taylor Avenue at a high rate of speed.  The deputy pursued the motorcycle onto Hwy 61 and into the city limits of Muscatine.

The motorcycle subsequently became involved in a single vehicle traffic accident on East 2nd Street in Muscatine that stopped the vehicle pursuit.  The driver of the motorcycle fled the scene on foot and attempted to flee by entering the Mad Creek flood waters.

Michael Edward Zahn, 30, of Davenport, was subsequently taken into custody and charged with several traffic and criminal charges.

Assisting the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office with the pursuit and offender recovery were the Muscatine Police Department, Muscatine County Search and Rescue, and Muscatine Ambulance.
