Hawkeye Defense Stops Washington State For 72-43 Win – Voice Of Muscatine


The Jan Jensen era continued with a sixth straight win as the Iowa woman dominated Washington State after a back and forth first quarter which saw the Cougars Tara Wallack keep her team in the game with 8 points in the quarter. Iowa responded with a fast start in the second quarter holding Washington State scoreless for the first four minutes and never looked back cruising to a pre Thanksgiving win at Carver Hawkeye Arena.

Throughout the second half the Hawkeye defense continued to apply pressure only allowing five points in the third quarter. Senior Sydney Affolter, freshman Taylor Stremlow and Lucy Olsen all recorded season high rebound totals as the Hawkeyes continue to win as the prepare for the upcoming Big Ten schedule. Olsen had 17 points, five assists, eight rebound and a steal while Hannah Stuelke registered her 42nd career game with double digits, finishing with 11 points.
