Beckey Bridge reduced to one lane December 8-10 – Voice Of Muscatine

Norbert F. Beckey Bridge. (City of Muscatine)

The Norbert F. Beckey Bridge (Highway 92) will be reduced to one lane of traffic on Sunday, December 8, Monday, December 9, and possibly Tuesday, December 10, as Muscatine Power & Water and Musco Sports Lighting, LLC, complete the installation of the platforms and lighting that were removed from the bridge in October ahead of the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) bridge washing project.

Drivers should be aware that City of Muscatine Department of Public Works crews will be putting out and setting up the lane closure on Sunday afternoon so work can begin early Monday morning.

Drivers are urged to plan for extra travel time while crossing the bridge during this time and to be alert for workers and traffic control signage from both directions of travel. Please slow down and pay attention to traffic control devices while using the Beckey Bridge so crews can safely install the bridge lights.

Once the lights have been installed and tested, they will be activated. The premiere of the Holiday Light & Sound Spectacular, which has become a holiday tradition in Muscatine, will be announced next week. Stay tuned for details.
