A unique holiday tradition that is like no other anywhere up and down the Mississippi River premieres Friday, December 13, in Muscatine. The Holiday Spectacular, a one-of-a-kind event featuring the Norbert F. Beckey Bridge, is the result of a combined effort of Musco Lighting, Muscatine Power and Water, and the City of Muscatine.
Venture out to the Riverside Park upriver parking lot throughout the holiday season to watch the choreographed bridge lights and the holiday music from the warmth of your car throughout the holiday season. The show premieres at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
The featured presentation has quickly become a holiday classic and a must see for Muscatine residents and visitors. Musco Lighting is producing the show for the fourth year with the choreographed musical light show a favorite and passion for the Musco Entertainment team.
“This is the only holiday light and music show in the country spanning the Mississippi River,” Pat Cooley, IT development manager at Musco, said.
The Entertainment Team spent over 100 hours choreographing the lights and music together creating a show lasting approximately 15 minutes with five new songs and four popular songs that are returning from previous years shows. The show uses 43 Musco RBBU 400-Watt fixtures that produce hundreds of colors.
Residents and visitors can come to the upriver portion of Riverside Park and tune in to 87.9 FM to listen to the special holiday music and watch the spectacular light show all from the warmth and convenience of their vehicles. The program loops continuously and will run every day from 5:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. through January 5, 2025.
The premiere was delayed this year as Musco had to reinstall the lights after a DOT bridge washing project that was completed in November. The installation was completed on Monday (Dec. 9) and the lights tested before Musco officially announced the premiere for Friday.
