Animal neglect investigation leads to arrest of Muscatine woman – Voice Of Muscatine

On Friday, December 13, 2024, a search warrant was executed by the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office at a mobile home in Muscatine County. The warrant was obtained in connection to a previous animal neglect case involving Kelly Marie Adams, age 44, of Muscatine. Adams had previously been arrested and charged in June of 2024 after a search warrant was executed and 67 animals had been removed from her property.

As part of an order for conditions of release, as set forth by Muscatine County District Court, Adams was prevented from “acquiring, owning, caring for or residing with any animals of any kind or with persons who otherwise own or possess animals”. Adams was also required to immediately notify the court if her address, persons residing, and/or the animals located at the residence change.

Over the past few months, the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office had fielded information that Adams had moved to a new residence and new animals had been acquired or were living at that residence with Adams. It was identified Adams was residing at a new location, that she had not notified the court of her new address, that she was caring for animals, and that a family member residing with Adams had adopted a young female pit bull mix dog.

During the execution of the search warrant on December 13, 2024, three dogs, three cats, six rats, one bird, five geckos, three snakes, and two bearded dragons were seized.

On the afternoon of December 13, 2024, Adams was arrested on a warrant for Violation of Pretrial Release relating to the original animal neglect case. Adams is currently held at the Muscatine County Jail on a $30,900 cash only bond.

Further charges and/or arrests may result from the investigation, as it is still ongoing.
