Muscatine softball rolls past Ottumwa in regional semifinal

Behind a 5-run burst in the third inning, top-ranked Muscatine rolled to a 10-0 win in five innings over Ottumwa in the Class 5A Region 8 semifinals on Saturday.

Freshman Brylee Seaman went 3-3, with three runs scored, one run batted in and two stolen bases to lead the Muskies at the plate, while senior Kaylynn Salyars had a home run and two rbi’s.

Bree Seaman pitched five innings of shutout ball for the Muskies (35-3), giving up just two hits and one walk, while striking out one.

Muscatine will host Bettendorf for the Region 8 Championship on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Kent-Stein Park. The Muskies split a pair with the Bulldogs (24-15) back on June 21, winning 9-1 and losing 3-4.
